Enviromental Program - Food Waste Machine

This year, our school has joined a food waste decomposing scheme. We are grateful that the Environmental Campaign Committee and the Environmental Conservation Fund have kindly sponsored us the Food Waste decomposer.

The aim of this project is to reduce waste from our daily life and raise the awareness of environmental protection among students.

The Oklin Food Waste decomposer does not only help reducing kitchen waste, but it also helps in keeping the environment clean and green.

In this term, we are going to collect all food waste during lunch time. All the boarders and EPS members are involved in this meaningful scheme. After the compost is ready, we are going to plant domestic crops in front of Bungalow No. 3.

We are grateful that the Environmental Campaign Committee and the Environmental Conservation Fund have kindly sponsored us the Food Waste decomposer.

Our school has our own food waste decomposer now!!! We can turn our food waste into organic fertilizer with this machine. This can reduce lots of food waste. The EPS teachers in charge, Vice-chairlady and Chairman took this photo with the Food Waste Machine.

Some professional advisers came to teach the EPS members and boarder prefects how to use the machine on 29thJan 2013.

We have to weigh the food waste and mark down on the record book before we put them into the decomposer.

All we have to do is to put our food waste into the machine. After a few days, the waste will become useful fertilizer.

Food waste, which contains a high amount of organic matter, is a very suitable raw material for composting. The food waste that put into the machine will not give out unpleasant smell. In addition, it is the nature's way of recycling and the main requirement for healthy planting.

In March, we can start using the compost to grow crops here. We are going to grow different types of tomatoes and other domestic plants.

We are going to store our farming tools in this room which is next to the farmland.

Some advisors inspected the machine. They helped us to output the compost for the first time.

This is the first batch of our organic compost.
